Is God's Salvation Available to Me?

This is a question many ponder at various times throughout their lives. Do I posses God’s salvation? Is God’s salvation available to me? Consider what the following verse reveals about God’s salvation:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

In what is probably the most well known passage in the Bible, God has clearly communicated Our Need for Salvation, His offer of salvation to us, and the Method He Chose for His salvation to be received.

The following are three reasons, seen in this verse, that you can know that God's gift of salvation is
available to you.

1. Because of the Extravangance of the Gift God Gave

God gave the most extravagant gift He could - His only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ died on the cross for our sins according to the Scriptures. God demonstrates His own love toward us in this, that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. God "gave His only begotten son".

2. Because of the Way a Person Receives the Gift

God's gift of salvation is received by simple faith, by simply trusting in Christ's death on the cross as the payment for our sin. We cannot be good enough to earn salvation. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He has saved us. It is by grace that we are saved, through faith, and that not of ourselves. It is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one may boast. Salvation is available to "whoever believes in Him".

3. Because of the Rescue the Gift Provides

This verse reminds us that apart from God, every single person will "perish". We are all in need of rescue because we are all sinners. You can know that God's love is available to you because Jesus came to "call sinners to repentance". God offers to rescue us so that so that we "should not perish". He desires that every person possess "everlasting life".

Let us emphasis one key point about salvation. Just because it is
available to everyone, doesn’t mean everyone possess salvation. Just because I offer to give you $20 does not mean that it’s yours - until you receive it or accept it from me. That’s why we underlined the word “available” - to emphasize that it is available to you. But you must accept or receive God’s salvation by obeying the gospel, that is, receiving Christ’s death on the cross as the only payment for your sin.

Invitation

If you already recognize your own sinfulness and your need to be forgiven, and if you believe in your heart that Christ died for your sins and rose again from the dead, we invite you to pray a simple prayer of faith asking God to save you from your sin.

Dear Lord. I confess to you that I am a sinner. I understand that I am not righteous. At the same time, I believe, as the Bible teaches, that Jesus Christ died for my sin. I understand that you sent Jesus to die because my sin debt had to be paid. I also believe that you raised Jesus from the dead and that He is alive today. In the best way I know how, I ask you to save me from my sin. Come into my heart and seal my salvation. Thank you Lord for saving me! Now please help me to get involved in a Bible believing and teaching church and serve you as my King. Amen.

If you just prayed this prayer, genuinely desiring that God save you, please send us an
email so that we may celebrate with you, pray for you, and help you along your journey of faith.
